Anacostia Community Museum
We were initially asked to improve accessibility at the front of the Museum, including entrance and toilet rooms, with no reduction of program space. So, we built up instead of out.
We added gallery space, a community room, and improved vertical connections. The project that started out as upgrades to accessibility, fire protection, and security systems, morphed into what was nearly a tear-down and fresh start. Our L-shaped addition tied together all the previous agglomerations of incremental growth.
